Bio

author photo 3I’ve been writing and editing for twenty years. My writing skills were honed by two distinct sources: U.C. Berkeley, where I learned how to logically structure a non-fiction piece until it became part of my cellular make-up, and booksandpeople, where I read an insane amount of books about writing and everything to do with it and then talked to/took classes from other writers. Another people part is my dad, who is a poet. I grew up believing writing was just something people did–like breathing or knowing how to make the best tuna fish (mayo and pickle relish, nothing else).

I think one of the funniest things that can happen to a writer is finishing a piece, especially a long one like a novella or a novel, starting the editing phase, and then changing your style completely. Ha ha! If you’ve ever written anything, and this has happened to you, your head is in your hands right now.

Several years ago I was told by a long-time critique partner that he wasn’t reading another word of mine until I promised to stop writing things that stayed in my drawer. So here I am, on this site, and sending bits out into the world.
